Dr. Jen Bookout (she/her) is a Doctor of Traditional East Asian Medicine and a board certified and licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She graduated summa cum laude with her masters degree from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, California, and her doctoral degree from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California. She received advanced training at Providence Hospital’s Disney Family Cancer Center under the direction of Dr. Robert Chu and teaches the biomedicine module for the NCCAOM board exam.
Growing up in Indiana, Dr. Jen had never heard of acupuncture or herbal medicine, but she knew there had to be another way to heal ourselves besides taking a pill and hoping for the best. She was initially drawn to Eastern medicine because of its surprising combination of simplicity and completeness. She discovered that this medicine is all about creating balance and that it takes into consideration the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. She believes that we begin where we are, without judgment, and move towards that balance with support when we need it.
Dr. Jen is experienced in treating a wide range of conditions including Long Covid, stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression, PTSD, skin issues, gynecology issues, pregnancy-related issues, headaches, allergies, digestive issues, pain, injuries, musculoskeletal issues, and post-surgical recovery (including scar reduction). She uses acupuncture, herbs, supplements, cosmetic acupuncture, microneedling, cupping, gua sha, Reiki, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle recommendations to help her patients feel their best.
